Social marketing - utilize the power of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other locations your market "hangs out" in. Write a short message with a link back to a blog posting about your report or the actual landing page where readers can access the report. Article marketing - write articles addressing a portion of the solution. At the end, put a link back to a landing page where readers can opt in or purchase your report. Submit the article to 5 - 10 main directories. One of my favorites is EzineArticles.com Sig files - You can utilize your email sig file and forum sig files to promote your report. This is a very underutilized method. When done right you can realize a great deal of interest from readers. Media releases - A very underutilized and yet, extremely effective way to promote your report is with media releases. There is a fine art to writing and distributing media releases. Here's how to write a headline for your information product's sales page that attracts attention and helps sell your information product.

#1 Know Your Customer or Prospect

Before you can begin writing an effective headline, you have to know your prospect intimately. You need to identify their problem so you can craft a sales page that promises a solution.

Ask yourself the following:

Who is your customer? What is their biggest problem or complaint? How will this information product solve their problems?

#2 Brainstorm Headlines

Brainstorm headline possibilities by writing twenty or so potential headlines. Here are a few ways to write effective headlines:

State a benefit - For example, "Triple your income overnight and Live the Life You Desire." Use numbers and statistics - For example, "Triple your income with 12 simple steps." Make it newsworthy. Use words like "new", "introducing", or "announcing" - For example, "New Book Shows You How You Can Triple Your Income Overnight." Make a big promise. - "Triple your income overnight." Use a "reasons why" headline - For example, "10 Reasons Why You're Not Earning More Money." Pique their curiosity - For example, "The Secret Investment Strategy Wall Street Investors Don't Want You To Know."

#3 Make it Emotional

Use active and emotional language in your headline to grab your prospects immediately. We buy for emotional reasons, plain and simple. When you engage the emotions right in your headline, you're triggering an emotional response. We're talking about emotions like:

Pride Greed Frustration Envy Joy

For example, How To Finally Make the Income You've Been Fighting to Earn. There are many emotions to tap into. What emotions are your audience feeling?

Consider also including your keywords in your headline and also using a subheading to really capture your prospect's attention.

Your headline may be the single most important element in selling your information product. And a well crafted headline may make the difference between a 1% conversion rate and a 10% conversion rate. Spend time crafting the best headline possible, create a sales page that supports it and then test and track it for success.
